Contemporary/Lyrical dance is built upon the fundamental principal that moving your body to music feels good. This class encourages students to find confidence and joy in their own creative and physical potential while challenging them to find a greater range of expression through dynamic physicality and specificity. Phrases full of motion, oppositional tension, and weight change are the core of this class. Contemporary/Lyrical dance utilizes both the strong and controlled legwork of ballet and modern dance's stress on the torso, and
also employs contract-release, floorwork, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristic of modern dance. Unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction are often used in this form of dance. Ballet class is highly recommended for the dancer interested in Contemporary dance.
*Dress code: Form fitting clothing, Hair Up Away from Face, preferably Barefoot as dancers must be able to feel the floor but Foot Undies or Half Soles acceptable.
